This summer,I am biking with my friend Jocelyn from Christiansburg, VA to San Francisco, CA. During our 4,000 mile, 3 month journey, we will be raising support and hopefully many financial pledges for The Kevin Rohan Memorial Eco Foundation in Kathmandu, Nepal. This sustainable eco-village provides a healing place in society for lepers who have been traditionally ostracized. Plz send tax deductible donations: BARD COLLEGE/Leprosy Relief, TLS/Box 5000, Annandale, NY 12504 or BARD/TLS link below

Hello there Jocelyn and Daniella,
ReplyDeleteThis is Mick (and Julie) who cycled with you back in Virginia.
I've jut started a very late round of contacting people who made our trip for us by giving us lots of good memories. We've been back over 3 months now after reaching Jasper in September. The Rockies are beautiful and the Icefield Parkway from Banf to Jasper is startlingly good. That way would make a good trip for your next adventure.
We are thinking about Chile next year, but just a few weeks in the UK and France this.
We made it up to Canada just as the weather was getting cold, they had 6" snow in Jasper the week before we arrived.
That last month of our trip through Glacier, the Grand Tetons, Waterton Lakes NPs and up the Icefield Parkway to Jasper was the best riding of the whole trip, just fabulous scenery. The hills were high but not too difficult. Not as hard as Virginia.
I don't know if you managed to read any of our journal on the route but we had such a variety of experiences across the States and are so glad we decided to do it. The best and ultimately the most memorable will be the people we met along the way, some friendly, some generous, some extreme but all surprisingly culturally very different from us brits. It was a great trip.
Along the Icefield we met up with an English girl Helen cycling from Newfounland to LA. Her first trip on a bike and doing it alone.
It would be good to hear from you. Thanks for the memories.

Good Luck to both of you
